When Silence Speaks: "I wish I had this years ago."
When Silence Speaks: "I wish I had this years ago."
That was all one parent needed to say after reading When Silence Speaks.
“At last, I am relaxed after so many long years.”
That sentence stayed with me, because it captures something many families carry quietly. Not just questions about hearing loss or devices, but years of uncertainty, worry, and emotional weight that rarely has space to rest.
While working on When Silence Speaks: The Hearing Together Series, Volume 1 with Dr. Vie, I was reminded again and again that families are not only navigating appointments and decisions. They are navigating emotions, relationships, identity, and the long stretch of time between diagnosis and confidence.
This book brings together real family experiences so parents do not feel alone in that process. It focuses on understanding the journey as a whole, including the fear, the hope, the waiting, and the gradual moments of clarity that come with time. It is not written to give instructions, but to offer reassurance and perspective.
It is also meant for those who support families. Therapists, audiologists, doctors, teachers, and others who care deeply about children with hearing loss, but may not always see what families carry beyond charts, reports, and clinic walls.
When Silence Speaks launches on Amazon on January 26. My hope is that it reaches families and professionals at a moment when they need something steady, honest, and human to walk alongside them.
